Guidance for runners and run leaders

EVERYBODY

Note the time that the run session starts and be there and prepared to set off at the stated time.

Wear clothing suitable for the conditions.

Wear suitable reflective gear when running in the dark or foggy conditions. Carry a fully charged headtorch for runs in darker conditions.

Do not run with headphones or earphones as you need to be aware the run leaders instructions, traffic, etc.

If you have an idea for a run, but don't want to be responsible for organising it on your own, please contact the away runs co-ordinator Leon Severn, who will be pleased to help. You can either have a chat at training or send an email.

Be seen, be safe

RUN LEADERS

Have a pre-planned route and pace.

Let the group know this before the run.

Do a headcount of the group before, during and after each run.

Faster groups to leave first for safety purposes.

Re groups to be done at predetermined spots. On roads stop at a place before a junction never at a road junction as this is dangerous for both runners and car drivers.

RUNNERS

Join a group that is suitable for your pace, if in doubt ask the group leader.

Stay with the chosen group, if you are struggling with the pace let the group leader know.

If you find your pace to be faster, please remember to loop back and gather the tail runners in to enable everyone to run together as a group.

Don’t be afraid to change groups each week as you feel necessary.

NEVER leave the group and go your own way without letting the group leader know beforehand.

If you become injured during the run, please let the group leader know as soon as possible.

HAVE A SAFE AND ENJOYABLE RUN
